To this day, I've gotta say: I love J.Crew.
The company has had it's ups and downs, but I admire that brand's willingness to push new creative and business boundaries.
I started my career writing for J.Crew back in 1999 and it was a great place to kick things off. During that time, I wrote for the catalog and wrote or edited all copy for jcrew.com--which was growing rapidly at the time. I also had the pleasure of working on a very small, three person creative team that played an integral role in one of the website's early redesigns.
A Good Man is a beautiful, dark film directed by Kai Gero Lenke. It's currently in post production & I fully expect it to make a splash when it's done.
At ANN Inc., I started as a copywriter but quickly moved to digital marketing. My main focus was SEO and I launched the company's first ever SEO program--for both the ANN TAYLOR and LOFT websites. That program was hugely successful and helped make organic traffic & revenue key drives of the online business.
In addition to SEO, I also oversaw all the digital marketing for the e-commerce division's two primary growth vehicles: the newly launched businesses of ANN TAYLOR Weddings and LOFT Maternity. (On a sidenote, it always struck me as a bit funny that I was immersed in weddings and babies at a time in my life when I was very much a bachelor).
A funny short film written by Lauren Fix and brought to life by the talented production team, Robotic Raptor. It recently made a splash at film festivals such as the Brooklyn Short Film Festival and the NYC Independent Film Festival, among others.
Talk about rapidly growing companies: tarte cosmetics is one of 'em.
For a two year consulting engagement, I had the pleasure of running tarte's e-commerce department. They'd seen remarkable growth in brick-and-mortar via their presence in venues like Sephora and Ulta. Now, they wanted to grow their own e-commerce business.
I took the bare bones department and helped grow it into a robust team and a solid contributor to the bottom line. For three fiscal years, we grew e-commerce traffic and revenue by close to, or well beyond, 100%.
LOZO is a company I co-founded with Jeff Kaplan, my old boss & former VP of Marketing & Merchandising at ANN Inc., and his brother Dan Kaplan, a creative director. LOZO is an innovative couponing technology that aggregates grocery coupons from over 400 reputable websites and then matches them to user's grocery shopping lists.
Irving Farm is a top notch coffee company based in the Hudson Valley and with a growing number of locations in NYC. I helped manage their website redesign and some marketing initiatives immediately post-launch so they could hit the ground running.
